St. James has active adult groups meeting on various days of the week. If are interested in starting a new small group/Bible study, contact Chrissy McCombs, Director of Christian Education, who will be happy to help you get started. Let's build up our small group ministries! Book Study - Good Grief - Have you ever experienced a loss? Does people's faith have anything to do with the way they grieve over what it is they lose? Join us for a ten week study, starting January 10th, at St. James. The study will go from 12 noon to 2 pm, and will be a soup and salad lunch followed by study. Bring a friend or neighbor. If interested, please talk to Pastor Daryl. Adult Sunday School Class Our Adult Sunday School Class meets in the Lounge, and is open to all adults. Teacher: Will Maggs (Mixed group) Dirt Devils Our infamous Dirt Devils are a group of retired men who meet every Tuesday for breakfast and then head to the church to do all sorts of work. They mow, trim, and help with gardens in the summer, plow in the winter (with the help of a plowing service for the major plowing), do repair work, build things...you name it. A lot of the men are no longer able to do the work, so they would LOVE to have some new members to help out. (Women are welcome, too!) The Dirt Devils are currently in need of a new, reliable tractor, large enough to deal with our large grounds. If you would like to donate toward the Tractor Fund, please contact the church office. (716-297-6421 or email office@stjamesniagara.org) For more information about the Dirt Devils, talk to Chub Wolfgang, Lee Clark, or Paul Beam Media Ministry Our media team provides video and audio support to our worship services each week. If you're interested in helping with this ministry, please contact Jayne Wright. (mediateam@stjamesniagara.org) Ushers We're always looking for men and women who could usher for Sunday morning services. The only requirement is a friendly smile! If you're interested, talk to Paul Beam or to Pastor Daryl Liturgists We also welcome anyone interested to take a turn occasionally as a liturgist for a worship service. It just involves leading the congregation in a call to worship and prayer, announcing the offering, and reading a scripture passage. Everything you need is written out for you (in large print even!) so it's easy. If you're interested, talk to Will Maggs or to Pastor Daryl. M & M's The St. James M & M group is for those "Mature Methodists" who are 80 years old or above. We meet several times a year for special activities, such as a sing-along or game time or even a Hawaiian luau! We have a great time and it's a real lift for the spirits! (We try to not have activities during the cold wintery weather, as it is difficult for many to get out and about.) If you haven't had the opportunity to attend one of our events and would like to, please let us know so that we may send you an invitation. (Contact Joyce Perry, or the church office. (office@stjamesniagara.org - (716) 297-6421) Upcoming M&M events are posted on our Events Page. Shut-in Card Ministry The Shut-In Card Ministry provides a “connection” to our Church members who are unable to attend worship services on a regular basis, or who have been ill. Each month cards are sent to our shut-ins, by many caring members in the church, letting them know they are still very much in our thoughts, heart and prayers Through this caring ministry, our members who can’t attend services, still feel connected and know they are lifted up in our prayers. We welcome members to get involved and send a packet of cards each month to our shut-Ins. Flowers for the Altar You are encouraged to place flowers on the altar in memory of loved ones or in celebration of an important event in your life. If you are interested in contributing flowers for the altar, please contact the church office (office@stjamesniagara.org - (716) 297-6421) or Pat Willis. Or you can sign up on the flower chart on the bulletin board in the education wing. You can either provide the flowers yourself, or Pat can order either one or two vases of flowers for you. ($15 per vase) Please let the church office know by the beginning of the week before what you would like in the bulletin about the flowers. After the service you may either take them yourself, or you can request that they be given to shut-ins. Garden Ministry Pastor Daryl is an avid gardener, and she has started a group of folks who are beautifying our property with flowers and other plants. If you would like to be a part of this ministry, or would like to donate money or plants, please contact Pastor Daryl.
